About

I am Philipp Helldorfer, born in 1984 in Bamberg, and I work as a freelance mechanical engineer based in Berlin.

I began my career by completing an apprenticeship at Robert Bosch as a mechatronics technician. During this time, I gained valuable knowledge in machining technology, electromechanical controls, and assembly techniques. After my apprenticeship, I continued working at Bosch for another four years, first as a service technician and later as a team leader, overseeing up to 20 employees.

In 2009, I decided to move to Berlin to pursue further education as a state-certified mechanical engineer at the State Technical School Berlin. After successfully obtaining my degree, I studied for three more years at the Technical University of Berlin. These studies allowed me to deepen my knowledge in subjects such as statics, dynamics, strength of materials, and manufacturing processes.

Following my studies, I secured my first position as a mechanical engineer at BigRep. In this role, I was responsible for the X-Y positioning system of a large scale FDM 3D printer. Afterward, I joined WHITEvoid as a developer for six years. During that time I primarily focused on the mechanical development of the winch systems Winch S, Winch M, and Winch L. I also took charge of overseeing the production and on-site installation for some of these systems. These systems continue to operate today and are key components to numerous spectacular shows, such as ABBA Voyage London, Hakkasan Club Las Vegas and Dark Matter Berlin.

Since becoming a freelancer in 2022, my primary focus has been on supporting startups in the development and market launch of their new products. It has been an exciting journey, and I look forward to continuing to contribute my expertise to the success of innovative ventures.
